Badger Badger?

They seem to be proliferating.  What is their meaning?  Have aliens come to earth to leave me cryptic messages?  Despite the similarity of the two signs, they are different and face different directions (note the handlebars vs. the rear wheel).  There are now a total of four of these within about a quarter mile.

DVRSR Update(s):
Last weekend was unusual.  We've been suffering from one windy day after another, which only intensifies the discomfort from the unusually high pollen count, as the pollen becomes mixed with all manner of valley dust.  Saturday is the day of my long training ride and normally includes two major climbs.  I headed out shortly after seven a.m. with the usual group of bike thugs that meet at Starbucks.  I found that my allergies were so bad that morning I could barely breathe.  On the first climb, I fell off the pace, as I was having trouble breathing.  It felt much like what I've heard people describe as asthma attacks.  Ultimately, I went home early, having only put on 31 miles instead of the usual 70+.  I thought I might be getting sick.  I took some advice and bought a round of Mucinex, which is a high timed release dose of guafenesin.  It cleared me out pretty quickly.  I must have had a pound of pollen in my lungs!  Although the congestion and discomfort have largely gone, the wind hasn't.  Yesterday I was treated to strong, gusty winds, chilly temperatures (low 50s), and some scattered rain showers.  I'm hoping today will mellow out some so I can go climb Mt. Potosi this afternoon after work.  Originally I was thinking of doing the Mt. Charleston Loop, but that takes a lot out of me.  Sunday would have been the day to do it, but we had high winds and I was still under the weather and decided to be cautious.  Potosi has the advantage of being a long climb, but isn't nearly as long or as hard as Charleston, and given that the climbs coming up in this weekend's race will take every ounce of climbing energy that I possess.

Weather forecast for Big Pine:
Saturday:  mid 70for a high in the valley, with WIND!
Sunday:  mid 60s in the valley, and what was once a 60% chance of rain has been downgraded to 30% at the time of this writing.

I did in fact ride Mt. Potosi this evening.  It's good to know I can put a 55 mile ride with 4200' of climbing into an after work ride now that the sun stays out longer!

  2. Interesting that the new discoveries allow you to choose from three directions, instead of only two. You may now proceed forward, or to the left, or to the right.

    WV = bademen. I hope bademen did not leave the directions for you.

  3. Oh, come on. There was a sale on spray paint at one of the funky discount houses where I shop. I just put down enough information to remind you to phone home, like ET. I hoped you wouldn't recognize my printing.

    Signed, the Princess of Gobazz. Please mind whom you call an alien or a bademan.

  4. Sorry to hear about your allergies. I used to suffer quite a bit from hay fever and my naturalist fixed it with a terrible concoction of a herbal brew and some accupunture. Maybe worth a try for you, too?
